Gift Set: Special Run Stablemate Assortments – A New Generation

The JCPenney Stablemate collections were last seen in 1997, and the last special run Stablemate collection was issued by Sears in 1998. In 2004 the special run collections returned to the JCPenney Holiday Catalogue. The sets were now called "Parade of Breeds" and though there were only ten models instead of twelve, they did come with a poster.

Gift Sets: Go West! - West Coast Jamboree "Wee Trio"

The West Coast Jamboree was the unofficial BreyerFest of the West. From 1992 to 2004, Sheryl Leisure and her gang of merry helpers provided the collectors of the west coast with a model horse extravaganza. Many of the big model horse brands provided special runs, including Breyer, Stone, Hartland, Hagen-Renaker, and the short-lived Horses 2000. On alternate years the show would host the North American Nationals, resulting in an even larger crowd.

The special runs provided by Breyer were usually Traditional scale, but for 2004, what became the final year of the Jamboree, they provided a set of G2 Shetland Ponies called The Wee Trio.

As I recall, the three models were painted to represent real Miniature Horses. Around 600 of #704304 Wee Trio were produced with a glossy finish and were sold to the general public at the show. Though the models were small, the colours were lush and featured details such as pink-tinted eye-whites, painted chestnuts, and on some, detailed hooves.
