Profile: G1 Morgan Stallion #5010

Regular Run Stablemate Assortment
#5010 Arabian Stallion

As mentioned in the Stablemate Assortment, Part I post, the 1975 Arabian Stallion colours were first released on the as yet unreleased Morgan Stallion. It shouldn't have been too surprising as that year's catalogue showed drawings of the Morgan Stallion paired with the Arabian Mare (and the Arabian Stallion paired with the Thoroughbred Mare, presumably where Citation should have been). The mistake was corrected eventually and the next year the Morgan Stallion was officially released in his correct colours.

As you can see, the splatter dapple technique can produce some interesting effects; the two sides of this model don't even look like they belong to the same horse. Here we have vague-socks at their best: two socks on the near side, but none when looking at the far side.

Grey is quite rare in the Morgan gene pool. In fact, there are only two current bloodlines in the whole breed! If you are going the purebred Morgan route, I would suggest checking out Morgan Colors, an excellent source for colours, rare and common, in the Morgan breed. If you're more interested in assigning a pedigree with a little more genetic diversity, a Morgan x Arabian cross would be a perfectly acceptable option.
